The allover diversity Creative Dragon Works has to offer arises from the truly international and intercultural life of it's owner Henning Wiekhorst. This comes together with the unique combination of him being a fully educated Mechanic and Engineer with him being an artist having the "eye" and sense for beauty, style and of getting things into the right picture.
Henning Wiekhorst was born in Italy in 1964 and lived in the US, the Netherlands, in Germany and now since over ten years in Hong Kong.
His education as a German Mechanic, five years workshop experience and being a Master in Industrial Engineering (Produktionstechnik, FH Koeln / Germany) equipped him well to deal with the entire range of management tasks when leading a company.
In 1997 he was as the Sales Manager Asia for the Business Unit "Wear Parts" of the Austrian Tungsten Carbide making company PLANSEE TIZIT (CERATIZIT).
As such he has built up an efficient sales network comprising 14 agents in nine Asian countries and selling Tungsten Carbide into allmost all kind of manufacturing industries where very wear resistant tools are needed.
Henning Wiekhorst then changed by the end of 2003 to the German Haerter Stanztechnik GmbH, a stamped metal parts supplier to mobile phone and automotive industries.
As its Managing Director, he founded Haerter Asia Limited in Hong Kong. In South China he established, as it's Legal Representative, the production plant Haerter Asia (Dongguan) Ltd. The starting point was virtually from a "green field" and the task ended with the DIN EN ISO 2001:9000 certification.
Nowadays, following a lifelong passion, Henning Wiekhorst started his own company CREATIVE DRAGON WORKS, which focuses on multi media and imaging fields.
The artistic background comes from his grandfather, Lothar Heinemann, who was a well known painter in Berlin / Germany. As such and beside many others, he drafted in the 1950's the election campaign posters for the German liberal party FDP. Several books and magazines were illustrated by him like the "Schultheiss Bote" in Berlin.
Also Henning's mother is an educated graphic designer. Living in such an environment of arts it is no wonder for the skills Henning Wiekhorst obtained naturally.
He is engaged in, or let's say: with, photography since the age of 14. His career as professional photographer finds it's starting point with a friend, who knew about his passion, asking Henning to take pictures of his wedding. On this day there were a lot of people present, doing the dragon boat racing and being in a desparate need for good photos of their team in sportive action, so that they can obtain sponsorships from companies.
After seeing Henning Wiekhorst's work of that wedding, he was hired as the official photographer of a dragon boat team, which he still is today.
As a photographer and being interested in matters of, - to him -, foreign cultures, dragon boating was so appealing to him that finally he wrote and published his book "Hong Kong - Mother of Dragons".
The book contributed a lot to his world-wide reputation, making him the official photographer of the International Dragon Boat Federation (IDBF) to who's quarter yearly Newsletter "Dragon Boat International" he regularly supplies photos and designs to coversheets for the printed versions.
He even got that much involved into this colorful and traditional Chinese sport, that he runs the meanwhile very popular web site DRAGON BOAT NET and he is the Asian correspondent of the American, IP-based TV-site The Dragon Boat Channel.
Allthough it looks like Henning's photography only targeting the sport of dragon boating, this is actually not the case. Take a look at the portfolio and the diversity of his photography becomes clear and obvious.
